Pearl Jam releases posters for each city on postponed tour

Pearl Jam has announced the release of posters for the Gigaton tour of North America, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Each poster has the venue name, city and original date of Pearl Jam’s planned tour. The posters also follow the theme of Gigaton and showcase some natural disasters.

The band will be making the posters available for purchase on their website. They have yet to release makeup dates for the 2020 tour of North America.

Madonna, Bryan Adams in News Notes

Madonna is out of her deal with Interscope Records after nearly a decade. The singer signed a three-album deal with the label in 2011 and the 2019 release of Madame X marked the final album in the deal… 

Live Nation will host a Bryan Adams concert in Düsseldorf, Germany, September 4, in front of a crowd of 12,000, at the Merkur Spiel Arena, an outdoor soccer stadium. The company is billing the event as Return to Live. Adams said that he would play acoustically with no band. Tickets for the show go on sale Tuesday (August 11). Also appearing at the show are Sarah ConnorRea GarveyThe BosshossJoris, and special guest Michael Mittermeier… 

Martin Birch, who produced albums by WhitesnakeIron Maiden, and Black Sabbath, has died. He was 71. No cause of death was announced at press time… 

Simon Cowell is said to have undergone surgery after breaking his back Sunday (August 9) after falling from an electric bike in the courtyard of his house in Malibu…

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will no longer take place at Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center. Instead, the network will stage performances in and around New York City. The August 30 event will feature outdoor performances with limited or no audiences…

Metallica to play Encore Drive-In concert

Metallica will play its first concert of 2020, August 29, a one-night performance that will air exclusively at drive-in theatres. The band will perform in an empty theatre but the show will be broadcast to drive-in theatres in the United States and Canada. 

“As many of you know, we’ve not played together in quite some time — actually since the ‘S&M2′ concerts last September,” drummer Lars Ulrich, said in a video posted on Twitter and Instagram. “But that’s all changing now as we’re gearing up to record a live show especially for you, just for you.”

Madonna boasts about not paying $1 million fine

Madonna has spoken out about not paying a $1 million fine that she alleges was slapped upon her for supporting Russia’s LGBTQ community during a 2012 show in St. Petersburg, Russia. 

A Russian court threw out the lawsuit, which was filed by a group of conservative activists, and the singer was not fined. 

Bush, Wu-Tang Clan in News Notes

Bush will celebrate the release of its new album, The Kingdom, with a virtual arena scheduled to take place Saturday (July 18), at 9 pm EST. The band will be streaming the show live from Los Angeles, California…

Blake Shelton announces drive-in concert with Gwen Stefani, Trace Adkins

Blake Shelton will take the stage July 25, for a one-night-only concert to be shown at approximately 300 drive-in movie theaters in North America. Joining him will be Gwen Stefani and Trace Adkins. The event will include cinematic events and storytelling and will cost $114.99 per vehicle. Tickets will go on sale July 14. 

“This is such a great way to enjoy music with your family and friends and stay safe,” Shelton said in a release. “I’m excited we’re getting the chance to perform a concert for fans and we’re going to go back and play old hits like ‘Austin,’ newer songs like ‘God’s Country’ and we might even introduce something brand new! Guided By Voices, who released Surrender Your Puppy February 20, will release their second album of 2020, Mirrored Aztec, August 31, the band’s 30th album. The band released “Haircut Sphinx,” the first single from the album, Tuesday (July 7). After announcing the rescheduled dates for the European leg of her Chromatica Ball tour, Lady Gaga has revealed the rescheduled dates for the North American leg of her stadium tour. The Chromatica Ball tour will kick off in North America August 7, 2021, at Boston, Massachusetts’ Fenway Park and is currently set to end at Chicago, Illinois’ Wrigley Field, August 27… 

Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgissonwill release Shiver, his first solo album in a decade, October 2. Robyn and the Cocteau Twins‘ Liz Fraser contributed to the album. The news is accompanied by the release of the first single from the album, “Swill”…

Björk announces three concerts in Iceland

Björk will perform three shows in Reykjavík, Iceland, in front of audiences in August. The shows will also be livetreamed to raise money for domestic women’s charities in both Iceland and worldwide. 

“I would like to invite you to some concerts to honor folks who got hit hardest in the coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement and to honor how many Icelandic musicians [I] have worked with through the years,” Björk said in a statement. 

Kenny Chesney announces rescheduled 2021 tour dates

Kenny Chesney has announced the rescheduled tour dates for his Chillaxification tour which will hit 18 stadiums in 2021, with special guests Florida Georgia LineOld Dominion, and Michael Franti & Spearhead

The tour will kick off at Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium, May 1, 2021 and wrap with a pair of shows at Foxboro, Massachusetts’ Gilette Stadium, August  27 and 28.
