Best Coast announces virtual anniversary show

Best Coast has announced a virtual 10th-anniversary show in celebration of their debut album. Crazy For You  The streamed event, scheduled for August 14, will feature special guests, interviews, archival footage, and more. 

Members Bethany Consentino and Bobb Bruno filmed a performance of the entire album while in quarantine and will be joined by special guests  Hayley Williams of ParamoreMark Hoppus of Blink-182Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches and others.

Beyoncé to debut visual album on Disney+

Beyoncé will debut Black Is King, a visual album, July 31, on Disney+. The singer wrote, directed, and executive produced the album, in which she reimagines the lesson of The Lion King. The album is based on the music of The Lion KingL The Gift. 

In other news, the singer won the BET HER award, a collaboration with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. She was also presented with the show’s Humanitarian Award by former first lady Michelle Obama.

Ringo Starr announces 80th birthday charity show

Ringo Starr has announced an 80th birthday show, July 7, the night of Starr’s birthday, a virtual charity concert to hit YouTube at 8 p.m. EST that evening that will feature performances and unearthed concert footage from Paul McCartneySheryl CrowGary Clark, Jr.,Sheila EBen Harper, and others. The show will also include the debut of a guest-laden version of Starr’s 2017 “Give More Love,” which will include Jackson Browne, Jeff Bridges, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson, and others. In addition, Starr will debut a number of tribute performances from Steve EarlePeter Frampton, and Judy Collins

Andrew McMahon, Adam Lambert in News Notes

Andrew McMahon will be the first performer in a new concert series curated by Nederlander Concerts. The Drive-In OC at the City National Grove of Anaheim in Anaheim, California. The series will include both film and live music performance, July 10 and 11. Tickets for the show are $350 per car for the first row and $200 per car for general admission. Each vehicle can bring between five and seven passengers… 

Fountains of Wayne singer Adam Schlesinger will be the subject of a posthumous 31-track tribute album, Saving for a Custom Van, which is available exclusively on Bandcamp. Schlesinger died at age 52, April 1, from complications of COVID-19. Ted LeoNada SurfSarah Silverman, and Rachel Bloom, are among the contributors. Proceeds from the album will go to the MusicCares COVID-19 Relief Fund…

My Chemical Romance has rescheduled its 2020 tour date to next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour will kick off September 8, 2021m in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and wrap with four shows in Los Angeles, California, October 11, 12, 14, and 17…

Led Zeppelin to stream 2007 tribute concert

Led Zeppelin will hold a YouTube streaming of its 2007 Celebration Day tribute concert to Atlantic Records’ founder, Ahmet Ertegun on its YouTube channel for three days, starting Saturday (May 30). 

The 16-song show, which took place December 10, 2007, at London, England’s O2 Arena, was the band’s first headlining show in 27 years, with the original members of the band, save for the late drummer John Bonham, who was replaced by his son Jason Bonham

Record Store Day, which was scheduled to take place in April before being delayed to June, will now be divided into three drop dates – August 29, September 26, and October 24 – before RSD Black Friday takes place November 27. The exclusive RSD titles scheduled to be released in April will now be released in batches across the August, September, and October dates with an updated release schedule dropped on June 1… 

Dr. Dre’s The Chronic to hit all streaming services

Dr. Dre‘s seminal 1992 releaseThe Chronic, will be released to all streaming services April 20. The album, which was only available on Apple Music and Beats Music, will be added to Spotify and Tidal on the 20th.

Radiohead announces weekly streaming series

Radiohead will stream a new show each week until the coronavirus pandemic is over, starting tonight (April 9), at 5 pm ET on their YouTube channel. The series will launch with Live From a Tent in Dublin, a 23-song show recorded October 8, 20000 at the Punchestown Racecourse in Dublin, Ireland. 

“Now that you have no choice whether or not you fancy a quiet night in,” the band wrote on their fan newsletter, “may we draw your attention to these entertainments?”
